An introductory film for a Second World war exhibition at National Trust-owned Upton House in Warwickshire.

In 1939 the owners of Upton House moved out and their family bank moved in. Driven by the need to protect bank staff and assets from the London air raids, M Samuel & Co. relocated for the duration of the Second World War.

To set the right tone for this immersive installation, ‘Country House at War, Banking for Victory’, we produced a video in the style of a 1940s information film.

This project was particularly personal due to my connection to one of the people at the heart of this story, my grandfather Henry Bluglass, who was Chief Accountant of M Samuel & Co.
